The Web Designer / Developer will partner with teams in Publishing, Education and Enterprise Content Strategy to help create interactive digital learning and marketing products intended to engage and enhance the user’s experience in an accessible, easily consumable fashion.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a similar field (or equivalent years of experience)
  • Demonstrated experience and success in web design and development
  • Expansive portfolio showcasing use of different interactive mediums (i.e., video, audio, 3D, AR/VR)
  • Robust competencies with design tools, such as: Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, InDesign, Acrobat, Encoder, Adobe XD
  • Strong competency with the following development tools: CSS, HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, jQuery; XHTML, Node, SASS, VS Code also preferred
  • Outstanding data analytics skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy, including experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools
  • Ability to ideate and contribute to innovative and creative solutions
  • Knowledge of webmaster tools and issue tracking systems
  • Strong understanding of digital content best practices, responsive design, and web compliance standards
  • Collaborative, positive attitude, and a strong team work ethic
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Motivated, self-directed, and results oriented
  • Familiarization with Agile and Waterfall approaches

Desired Qualifications:

  • Data Visualization Certificate
  • Medical Illustrator Certificate / medical illustration experience
  • Understanding of publishing formatting: XML, XSLT
  • Experience working with medical or scientific data is desired
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools – JIRA, Asana, Confluence, MS Teams/O365 is a plus

Description

The ACC’s Digital Publishing team is seeking a creative team member with web development and graphic design expertise to create and enhance the digital content published by the JACC family of journals. The ideal candidate should excel at transforming scientific/clinical data into digital experiences and tools, including microsites, data visualizations, infographics, and interactive environments. The individual should be capable of working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented publishing environment.

The Web Designer / Developer will partner with teams in Publishing, Education and Enterprise Content Strategy to help create interactive digital learning and marketing products intended to engage and enhance the user’s experience in an accessible, easily consumable fashion. The individual should be analytical, creative, customer focused, team-oriented, proficient in web design and development tools and technologies, skilled in project and time management, and possess excellent communication skills.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Director, Digital Publishing, Web and Content Managers, Executive and Managing Journal Editors, Editor-in-Chiefs, and internal and external stakeholders to create accessible, responsive, engaging, and interactive online content for new and existing digital products.

  • Research and pioneer the adoption and use of new technologies or design trends which help elevate digital content
  • Produce necessary technical documentation related to new or enhanced digital assets/products.
  • Creating mock-ups, and designing layouts while balancing the usability, visual appeal, and technical feasibility of the designs.
  • Provide demos and training of new tools to other team members.
  • Responsible for coding UI/UX design, graphic design of front-end applications.
  • Contribute to digital publishing team discussions around UI/UX, usability, and user-centered design to ensure processes and products meet market needs and are efficiently developed and supported.
  • Ensure content has been staged, reviewed and approved by appropriate stakeholders prior to being published on websites.
