What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in PHP, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5
  • 2+ years of experience using MVC frameworks, Laravel, and Symfony
  • 2+ years of experience with developing and implementing web applications
  • Experience with SQL Server (or similar RDB) and relational database design
  • 2+ years of experience with templating engines like Blade
  • 2+ years of experience with microservices and REST APIs
  • Experience with DevOps tools like Git, Docker a plus
  • Expert knowledge of object-oriented and functional programming concepts
  • Expert in using Test Frameworks and a good understanding of test-driven development concepts and supportive tools like Dusk and Selenium
  • A keen interest and drive to continuously learn new techniques and technologies
  • Self-driven, self-sufficient, actively looks for ways to contribute and knows how to get things done
  • Strong critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills to create a productive communication environment with team members and stakeholders

Description

The PHP Developer will assist with the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of application systems, based on pre-defined requirements for programs, functions, services and other related software components.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Understand the business model in relation to their current product focus area and look for opportunities to simplify product & technical design
  • Work collaboratively with product owners and the business on feature development and communicate effectively with a commitment to be part of a successful team
  • Be an active participant in all phases of the development life cycle of our applications including architecture, implementation, and maintenance
  • Submit software products for review of compliance with best practices, standards, and enterprise architecture (code review)
  • Participate in quality assurance and testing to achieve quality objectives and other activities according to planned schedules
  • Adhere to Assurant release management requirements for application and system implementations
  • Consult with experienced engineers and receive guidance on strategies that minimize implementation risk and/or improve system reliability and performance
  • Prepare change and support documentation according to implementation requirements
  • Monitor deployments and respond appropriately
  • Approach engineering work with a security lens and actively look for vulnerabilities both in the code and when providing code reviews
  • Willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies
  • Provide thoughtful thinking and strategies to effectively resolve problems and issues
