UI/UX Designer at Slate

We’re looking for a Junior UX/UI Designer to join the team to work alongside our Senior Product Designer, Product & Project Manager, Founding team and Engineers as we evolve our powerful and intuitive web and mobile products.


Skills And Qualifications

2+ years of experience shipping digital products that customers love. You have a strong portfolio showcasing your UI design process and visual design skills. You facilitate and foster a user first design approach. Fluency in commonly used design software and related tools (Figma, Adobe CS, etc.) A team player who is willing and happy to help. Strong attention to detail, organized in your work and following design best practices Strong written and verbal communication skills. A proven understanding of UX principles. Mobile design experience preferred but not required Fluency in English

Bonus Points

Visual design background (i.e. graphic design) Startup experience deep understanding and technical knowledge related to Figma, Zeplin, and prototyping tools Understanding of Human Interface Guidelines & Material Design best practices

About the Role

We’re looking for a Junior UX/UI Designer to join the team to work alongside our Senior Product Designer, Product & Project Manager, Founding team and Engineers as we evolve our powerful and intuitive web and mobile products. While we are looking for someone that can contribute in every aspect of the design process we are prioritizing candidates with very strong visual design and UI skills.

Being a part of a small, focused team, you will be working closely with our co-founding team including Michael, our CEO / Head of Product as well as other co-founders, designers and engineers.

Your Responsibilities will Include

Strong focus on UI and Visual Design skills Translate wireframes, flows, and product requirements into intuitive, and easy-to-use UI. Contribute to the execution of UX and UI designs of new features across web and mobile products. Creation of hi-fidelity, interactive prototypes in Figma or other prototyping tools as required. Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the product and executive teams. Collaborate closely with our founding team, engineers, as well as other designers. Build empathy for our customers. Understand their wants and needs and help build the vision for how to improve our experience across all devices. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of our design system, design guidelines, best practices, processes and standards of quality in all design work. You will be at times asked to help with other design projects such as decks, social graphics, marketing materials etc.
