Overview of team:
The UI development team works with various teams in the business such as Trading desks, Credit risk and Sales. We primarily work on trading interfaces, risk controls and alerting systems. We are a small, experienced team with decades of technical experience in financial services combined.
We use React exclusively in the front end. All new front end code is written in Typescript. Microservice backends are written in Node.js and Go which are deployed to Kubernetes on AWS.
Code quality is important to us and considering the nature of our business, our decision making and diligence can have a real impact on the safety of the firm. Performant code is required as in some applications we are presenting sizeable datasets to traders which need to be updated regularly.
Scope of role:
As a UI developer you will spend time providing features to our various projects. Depending on priorities you will usually be designated to a trading desk, or working on our client facing OTC trading application.
As a member of agile teams as well as the UI horizontal, you will work closely with developers and business stakeholders (e.g. trading desks, and our sales team). Your work will satisfy internal feature requests as well as the requirements of external stakeholders such as clients and regulators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding and critiquing requirements with the help of other team members or our head of product, helping turn needs into detailed specifications.
- Writing code and garnering feedback for both feature behaviour and technical approach early.
- Maintaining healthy test coverage to document intended behaviour, support potential refactoring and to explore edge cases.
- Contributing to the team Wiki so that key information is expressed to a non-technical audience in times of need.
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to web application development where contributions can have an immediate impact to the business
- Working knowledge of AG-Grid, Typescript, Material UI, Styled components
- Exposure to Python
- Use of AWS and kubernetes
- Knowledge of trading and middleware protocols and technologies including:
- Redis
- FIX protocol
- REST APIs
- Websockets
- A keen interest in trading systems and crypto
