We are seeking a Solutions Engineer to join the GRS Technology - Engineering Enablement team.


Qualifications

Experience

  • Ten years of related software engineering experience
  • A comprehensive understanding of agile environments
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary frameworks and emerging technologies
  • A history of practicing DevOps and SecOps
  • A strong background in business operations and strategies, including knowledge of global business, technology trends and the financial services industry

Skills

  • Solid negotiation, facilitation, consensus building and influencing capabilities
  • Ability to identify patterns and problems across teams and deliver effective solutions
  • Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances
  • A design thinking and test-driven development mindset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an aptitude for working in teams

Knowledge

  • Experience developing or architecting cloud-hosted, responsive web applications using Java, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Strong background in code review
  • High-level proficiency with client-side JavaScript frameworks, server-side frameworks, and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with event-based System of Engagement architectures and integration with API exposing microservices
  • Deep understanding of layered solutions and designs
  • Cognizance of security concerns, from access control and authentication to secured SDLC processes
  • Understanding of DCI/MDM systems, data ingestion and cloud-scale data sets

Education

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience


Description

Provides technical oversight and engineering solutions to large, strategic, complex system and application development projects, usually at the product level. Responsible for the implementation of technology by developing clear, comprehensive and integrated system, technical and/or product recommendations which support business plans and long-term strategies. Working closely with Associate Solution Architects, drives adoption of architecture standards in order to promote operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency and cost optimization into operating norms. Recognized as a thought leader within discipline who influences decisions made by senior leadership and advances the craft of engineering within our organization.

We are seeking a Solutions Engineer to join the GRS Technology - Engineering Enablement team. The EE team is responsible for delivering enablers for Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, experimenting on new technologies, and innovating on existing patterns or processes. Our primary goal is to reduce the cognitive load on Software Engineers allowing them to focus on value-add priorities and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Role requires 50% hands on keyboard, developing & experimenting with new technologies like Generative AI, design patterns/templates etc in Cloud platforms.
  • Ability to embrace, learn, adapt, and teach new technologies with expertise to assess possible fit to our business & engineering needs.
  • Develops clear, comprehensive and integrated system, technical and/or product recommendations that ensure consistency, security, maintainability, reliability and flexibility within a business capability domain or portfolio.
  • Proficient in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), software engineering languages (including Python, Typescript, JavaScript) and tools (including Observability tools, JIRA).
  • Knowledgeable in UI frameworks, DevOps & SRE principles and practices, as well as familiarity with test-driven and behavior-driven development.
  • Knowledgeable in new and emerging technologies (including Generative AI, Lakehouse etc),
  • In-depth understanding of layered solutions and designs; in-depth understanding of shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded.
  • Oversees design reviews and frameworks.
  • Contributes toward forecasts of business and IT trends to define the technical direction within a portfolio, project or Market.
  • Educates and drives adoption of the well-architected framework in order to promote Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost Optimization, Sustainability into cultural norms.
  • Makes recommendations to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participates during incident management events and provides consultative recommendations on viable resolutions.
  • Maintains collaborative and strategic partnerships between customers, vendors, business partners, and technology teams.
  • Mentors staff to develop technical engineering capabilities. Shares expertise ensuring that teams are continuously improving and learning together to meet current and future engineering needs.
  • Shares engineering knowledge and expertise across the organization and industry through networks, events and communities of practice.

Highly developed listening, negotiation, consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation and the adaptability to respond to change quickly. Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
