Software QA Engineer II - NBS at Nelnet

As a Software QA Engineer at FACTS SIS, you are instrumental as an overseer of the quality of products produced by the Software Development team.

You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years’ experience in a quality assurance testing role.
• Ability to implement and execute multiple forms of testing to cover the entire Software Development Lifecycle.
• Experience building, maintaining and/or evolving automated testing processes.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test suites that are suitable and reusable.
• Database knowledge (table design, complex query creation, best practices).
• Strong desire to learn, push the envelope, and share knowledge with others.
• Experience mentoring others and/or leading a significant change within a team.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate with clients, colleagues, and management to explain complex issues clearly and concisely.

What you’ll do:

As a Software QA Engineer at FACTS SIS, you are instrumental as an overseer of the quality of products produced by the Software Development team. You’ll focus on testing and process improvements that result in high quality production operation of our software products through manual and automated testing. You will work closely with all members of your scrum team to help deliver quality. In addition to having automation aptitude, collaboration and communication skills are important in your role.

As a Software QA Engineer, a typical day might include:

• Acquiring information from Product Owners and Team members to effectively define testable user stories that include test cases and acceptance criteria.
• Triage, validate and track bugs or issues that are reported to the team.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of automated tests.
• Conduct manual and exploratory testing to validate quality and coverage of automated tests.
• Contribute to automated testing standards, best practices and code.
• Create and develop learning material to aid other Software QA Engineers.
• Effectively communicating initiatives/product statuses, working with Product Owner and Team to address stakeholder issues/concerns
