What you will bring
- Solid experience with Linux, cloud computing, web technologies, monitoring and alerting, shell scripting, and build tools
- Experience with container technologies like Docker
- Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required
- Good written and verbal communication skills to handle communication in a distributed team
- Experience with Python
- Experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, JavaScript, or Bash scripting
- Application development experience with an automation mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

- Software-defined networking or storage experience
- Background in developing orchestration and configuration management solutions

The Red Hat Products and Technologies Cloud Operations (PCO) team is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC or remotely. In this role, you will work as part of a team that is responsible for enabling new cloud vendors, developing tooling and automation for optimizing cloud spend, cloud optimization consulting, and financial reporting. You will play a significant part in building out our infrastructure, tooling, and applications to support our internal stakeholders. You’ll participate in developing and operating the infrastructure and tooling used by Red Hat's software engineers to run and operate cloud technologies. As a Software Engineer, you will be involved in the development and operation of our offerings, helping to increase the productivity and agility of the organization to deliver the platform using continuous integration (CI) processes and tools. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
- Define, implement, and deliver automated tools and solutions that maximize developer productivity
- Design and build tools and systems that automate operational tasks
- Engage with other engineering teams to build consensus on goals in shared projects and implement features to achieve those goals
- Collaborate with Red Hat’s engineers to identify opportunities to make administration of cloud platforms more efficient
- Constantly learn new things and maintain an overview of current technologies
