The DevOps Engineer, Senior contributes to problem resolution as part of troubleshooting efforts and works as a team member on a cross-disciplinary teams that is part of a wider DevOps community.


Primary tasks and responsibilities

The DevOps Engineer, Senior will be a subject matter/domain expert with specific expertise with AWS/CI-CD tools and processes at a minimum, in a hands-on capacity, with working knowledge and understanding centered around the following areas:

  • Strong experience with AWS
  • Strong experience with CI/CD automation.
  • Significant experience with scripting using Python in DevOps / SRE areas.
  • Understanding API's, microservices concepts.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Docker Swarm, ECS, Kubernetes and helm charts
  • Experience with setting up and configuring monitoring for applications.
  • Experience conducting code reviews, demos, proof of concept solutions, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Java based systems.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures and Linux/Unix administration.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as JavaScript, Groovy, Perl, Python, Bash.
  • Exposure to any programming languages such as Java, GOLang and C++ is a plus.
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with open-source technologies and tools.
  • Experience in working with Terraform, Ansible for infrastructure automation and configuration.
  • Experience in software development and infrastructure development is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, Nexus/Artifactory
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline issues across Jenkins and AWS Environments (Linux EC2, RDS, CloudFormation, ElasticSearch, etc...)
  • Current with industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement.
  • Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
  • Experience and familiarity with security best practices
  • Work with the development teams to bring in new microservices into the pipeline. Helping troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Work through steps to automate installations of COTS products into the architecture
  • Experience with project management and workflow tools and concepts such as Jira, Agile, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and documentation skills

Desired Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience, or equivalent combination of certifications, experience and/or education.
  • AWS Certification Required

Description

The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible to compile, build, stage and deploy software within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The DevOps Engineer, Senior contributes to the DevOps automation and executes deployments and releases from a developer's workstation through development and test cycles up to production. The DevOps Engineer, Senior contributes to problem resolution as part of troubleshooting efforts and works as a team member on a cross-disciplinary teams that is part of a wider DevOps community. The DevOps Engineer, Senior demonstrates the initiative to evolve knowledge and skills where necessary to utilize current tools and any emerging tools for Configuration Management, Continuous Integration, automated testing and release management. The DevOps Engineer, Senior looks for opportunities to continuously improve their understanding of existing DevOps processes, tooling and build pipelines in a relentless effort to ensure the most efficient execution of all tasks and processes, with an overall objective of completing delivery release cycles within or ahead of schedule. The DevOps Engineer, Senior is responsible to perform analysis, design and implement solutions, installations, upgrades, configurations, administrations, and tuning of CI/CD pipeline applications and tools. The DevOps Engineer, Senior collaborates and provides technical recommendations, solutions and design approaches to the Architecture and Engineering teams for software development products such as Jenkins, Git, etc. The DevOps Engineer, Senior automates software deployment processes by releasing incremental updates and developing automation tools. The DevOps Engineer, Senior creates stable CI/CD pipelines by continuously improving the infrastructure and software to be easily deployable and scalable. The DevOps Engineer, Senior maintains advanced knowledge of agile methodology, development processes, and programming languages. The DevOps Engineer, Senior requires moderate skill sets and developing proficiency within discipline. The DevOps Engineer conducts tasks and assignments as directed. The DevOps Engineer, Senior works under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.

This is a full- time position / 100% Remote.

The salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 will be based on technical experience and technical interview.
