As a senior designer at SimpsonScarborough, you are given the opportunity to work in a tight-knit team to create compelling work for a range of major higher education brands – from Ivy League to state flagships, to selective private colleges.
Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in graphic design, visual communication, or similar field
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience.
- Proficient in Adobe CS (InDesign, XD, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
- Great but not necessary: experience with AfterEffects and Premier Pro
- An outstanding portfolio demonstrating proven skills in understanding of the fundamentals of visual communication and design, including color theory, visual organization/composition, information hierarchy, aesthetics, typography, use of icons, layout and photo manipulation skills. We expect portfolios to include a mix of traditional and digital media.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational skills and the ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.

First and foremost, we're looking for someone who's curious — curious about higher ed, about marketing and branding, and about design principles and trends. Beyond that, the ideal candidate will extend that curiosity across industries and topics, informing a fully realized point-of-view. This candidate will have 5 or more years of experience working in an agency environment with a track record of cross-team collaboration and a portfolio that demonstrates a range of ability and experience.
As a senior designer at SimpsonScarborough, you are given the opportunity to work in a tight-knit team to create compelling work for a range of major higher education brands – from Ivy League to state flagships, to selective private colleges. Your time will primarily focus on conceptual work that develops university wide brand standards and will also include activation tactics as required. This work is not limited to one medium or format, but has the potential to be told through digital, print, and environmental experiences. Innovative thinking is highly encouraged — we never believe there is one way to solve a problem.

Our ideal candidate will have the ability, and desire, to merge analytical and intuitive thought into one cohesive story.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing beautiful and thoughtful brand materials
- Creating visual identity systems
- Creating conceptual tactic mock-ups
- Assure quality high standards for all deliverables
- Working under tight deadlines to execute great work.
- Collaborating with fellow designers and copywriters, as well as research and strategy experts
- Leading discussions and presenting work both to clients and to the internal team
- Mentor junior designers
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary range begins at $70,000 and will extend based on candidate experience and capability.
