Gen3 is seeking a Security Engineer, Automation in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs.


What you'll need:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or technical equivalent and 5 years of professional experience OR a total of 15 years in lieu of education. 5+ years of expertise reviewing and auditing important information systems and websites.
  • 5+ years of expertise in system analysis, creating plans for data extraction and integration, and possessing advanced understanding of Power BI (such as dashboard construction and data pipelines) and SQL (such as table optimization and stored procedures).
  • Expertise in designing automation plans as well as a thorough understanding of automation capabilities, tools, procedures, and best practices.
  • Experience with communicating and engaging end-users, stakeholders, and executive-level members.
  • Expertise in NIST special publications like RMF and NIST Security controls (SP 800-37, 800-53) and GRC tools like ServiceNow, RSA Archer, etc.
  • The capacity to examine data and offer insightful analysis to support data-driven decisions.

What's desired to have:

  • Prior experience supporting any federal or state government agency especially the Veterans Affairs.
  • Experience with eMASS and RiskVision.
  • Experience or knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Experience with Integrated Master Schedules using MS Project Online or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Possession of excellent data-gathering, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Veteran and HUBZone friendly employer.

About the role:

Gen3 is seeking a Security Engineer, Automation in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs. You will use your skills as a System Security Automation Architect on the Executive Views and Dashboard team to create and offer reporting and solution management to the client in support of program management and risk reduction goals.

Location: U.S., Remote.

What you’ll do:

  • Apply cutting-edge planning and consulting, or substantial technological know-how, to high-profile client endeavors.
  • Create automation scripts in the Microsoft product line (such as SQL Server and Power BI) to simplify and automate the VA Information System Security Officers' (ISSOs') Continuous Monitoring Audits (CMAs).
  • Participate in interviews with the information system security officers who are currently conducting audits to find out where automation can reduce the amount of work necessary to carry out those audits.
  • Review SOPs to find processes that can be automated in software to lessen the manual work needed to carry out account management audits. Together with the program leadership, you will identify and manage risks as well as manage customer relationships to jointly analyze the risk associated with system audit compliance.
  • To assist the customer in making informed and data-driven decisions, you will collaborate with the client to translate requirement concepts into recommendations for practical, implementable solutions.
