What You’ll Bring to the Team:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required.
• 5+ years software engineering experience.
• 3+ years Python application development experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing and deploying to Linux systems.
• Familiarity with ANSI X12 healthcare transaction (837, 834, 997, etc.).
• Familiarity with SQL and ORM frameworks desired.
• Familiarity with WSGI or Flask desired
• Familiarity with JavaScript application development is a plus.
• Experience working in the healthcare industry and with claims applications is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

About Our Opportunity

Valenz employs a Plan-Build-Run organizational structure for application development. This position works with the Build team and utilizes their strong knowledge of application development and healthcare industry standards to create and maintain critical revenue cycles, compliance SaaS applications, and data content for Valenz’s healthcare clients. This Software Developer II position will collaborate with internal and external business partners to identify problems and propose solutions while also achieving corporate product goals. A Software Developer II also works independently to design, analyze, write, and modify systems including coding, testing, debugging, and documenting programs to facilitate efficient Run operations that maintain and support them.

Things You’ll Do Here:

• Troubleshoots, analyzes, and modifies systems including scripting, testing, debugging, and documenting programs and processes for internal and external benefactors.
• Works to build and update custom applications following best practices for coding and security.
• Writes easily readable and maintainable code.
• Documents application(s) and processes to allow for easy maintenance and execution by the Run team.
• Utilizes knowledge and experience to independently identify application problems and propose solutions.
• Completes efforts independently or as part of a team in conjunction with deadlines when required.
• Keeps up with modern techniques and changing technologies and assists junior developers with honing their skills.
• Ability to context switch between projects as requirements and timelines evolve.
• Maintains compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
