Product Designer - Mobile at Outside Inc.

As a foundational member of Gaia GPS design, you will solve problems that have a real world impact for people navigating and exploring remote areas in the backcountry.

Skills

• Experience creating visual designs for native mobile apps on iOS and Android
• Ability to create prototypes to demonstrate key features internally and externally
• Basic understanding of mobile app views and components
• Strong presentation skills
• Proficiency using Figma to create designs and organize styles and components
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and how to validate designs for all audiences
• Some experience designing web apps that help manage user data and preferences
• Exceptional design documentation skills
• Bonus: Experience designing geospatial apps
• Bonus: Icon illustration for mobile app products
• Bonus: Worked on solving accessibility issues in mobile apps
• Experience and Education
• 3+ years contributing designs in a full-time role for a published native mobile app
• Bachelor's degree in Digital Interface Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic

As a foundational member of Gaia GPS design, you will solve problems that have a real world impact for people navigating and exploring remote areas in the backcountry. You will take our mobile apps to the next level by making complex user tasks feel simple through stunning surface design that’s rooted in strong structural work of usability and information architecture.

Responsibilities

● Take ideas from low-fi wireframes, sketches and strategy documents and create visual UI for mobile apps on Android and iOS

● Collaborate with engineering partners to create impactful designs

● Organize designs and components to build a greater design system

● Continue to iterate and elevate our visual design standards

● Make informed design decisions based on usability testing and research
