Manual Test Engineer (Software QA) at Gateway Ticketing

We are looking for a Manual Test Engineer who can become a key contributor within our Quality Assurance team. This team member may be local to our HQ office, or work remotely.


Core Competencies:

  • Familiar with testing methodologies and the project development life cycle.
  • Familiar with Windows Operating Systems.
  • Familiar with client/server environments and proficient RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) skills (Microsoft SQL Server).
  • Familiar with Gateway Ticketing software suite with knowledgeable and understanding of at least 1 module.
  • Familiar with Test Tools and/or Test Frameworks/Harnesses.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and on an individual basis.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to document and concisely communicate problems to developers.
  • Some experience working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong technical writing / technical reporting skills.
  • Working additional hours beyond regularly scheduled hours as requested by management.
  • Understanding of the necessity to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Experience in retail, point of sale, or revenue control systems or operations.
  • Willing to seek continuing education.
  • Experience with manual testing.

We are looking for a Manual Test Engineer who can become a key contributor within our Quality Assurance team. This team member may be local to our HQ office, or work remotely.

Main Function:

The Manual Test Engineer I is responsible for the accurate testing and evaluation of software programs against design specifications, user requirements, user stories and/or other authoritative sources to ensure the highest quality of Gateway Ticketing Systems software.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience testing software or related field.


Essential Duties:

  • 1. Reproduce issues in the Reported In version as well as the latest development version of the software, as reported by internal partners.
  • 2. Create test cases in the Test Management System for reproduced issues, and subsequent testing/verification of issue fixes, as required.
  • 3. Manually executing tests, analyzing, and verifying of Gateway’s software and hardware products.
  • 4. Manually executing “QFE”, (Quick Fix Emergencies) maintenance release, major release and project tests.
  • 5. Performing Exploratory/Ad-hoc testing.
  • 6. Creating Test Case procedures without supervision in the Test Management System.
  • 7. Assist in the creation of and documenting of “Unit Tests” in the Test Management System.
  • 8. Assist in the creation of and documenting of “Out of Scope” Test Cases in the Test Management System.
  • 9. Assist in the creation of and documenting of detailed “Configuration” information in the Test Management System.
  • 10. Logging all issues, to include progress and time spent in the issue tracking system (GTSWin) and communicating results to the project team.
  • 11. Assisting in writing Test Plans and more complicated Test Cases in the Test Management System and other QA documentation from design specifications, user requirements and other authoritative sources.
  • 12. Reviewing and providing feedback on online help and user documentation.
  • 13. Maintaining Quality Assurance Standards for Test Plans, Test Cases, and other QA processes and procedures.
  • 14. Attend and participate in all Project Team meetings
  • 15. Attend and participate in all Department meetings
  • 16. Attending required Training as necessary.
