We are looking for a full-stack WordPress Developer to join our digital marketing team and provide world-class tools and resources via one of the largest sports websites in Chicago.


Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience writing HTML, CSS, and PHP in a WordPress environment
  • Intermediate or expert skills in: PHP, JavaScript, React.js, jQuery, WordPress, HTML, CSS
  • Strong portfolio and documented experience of consumer website development projects
  • Experience using Git
  • Experience with custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Ability to debug performance and caching issues
  • Preferred experience with PHP unit testing
  • Strongly preferred experience with Webpack
  • Preferred knowledge of frontend design/ UI/UX design
  • Preferred experience with Google’s suite of products
  • Experience with digital marketing best practices (technical SEO, analytics, and conversion rate optimization)
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative
  • Someone with a passion for programming, technology and who is always looking to learn more and improve
  • Team oriented: Positive attitude and great communicator; able to build rapport quickly

Junior WordPress Developer Job Details

We are looking for a full-stack WordPress Developer to join our digital marketing team and provide world-class tools and resources via one of the largest sports websites in Chicago. You will be building new backend enhancements to our already highly customized WordPress website and producing performant, user-friendly front-end experiences.

NCSA is a dynamic and growing company, and we need our website to be able to grow with us. NCSASPORTS.ORG is one of the larger consumer facing websites in Chicago, has 15M+ unique visitors a year and millions of visitors monthly. We are coming off a year where we saw 50% YoY organic growth and we need to expand our development team now to maintain the growth.

Our team is dedicated to generating leads, nurturing users, and driving enrollments for the company. We do this by utilizing modern technology and best practices, SEO and CRO expertise, and a UX-focused team to showcase the benefit and value of NCSA via our website. We work cross-functionally and are a highly collaborative, in-house WordPress development team with a vision of taking our site to the next level.

You will report to our Senior WordPress Developer and work closely with the Marketing Website Manager, VP of Marketing, QA Engineer, Technical Project Manager, and other business leaders providing critical technical expertise and skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Build world class WordPress tools and assist with releases
  • Test and improve website performance
  • Work with the development team, stakeholders, and project management in effectively communicating estimates, risks, and project status
  • Leverage WordPress APIs and extend the WordPress admin experience
  • Participate in code reviews to improve code quality and stability of the site
  • Create and update technical code, system and process documentation as needed
  • Work collaboratively with top design, development, and QA teams
  • Assist with support tickets to correct bugs / issues as needed
  • Improve organic traffic and support paid advertising efforts by following digital marketing best practices and create a positive user experience
