  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Engineering required. Master’s degree or equivalence experience or relevant profession experience preferred.


Description

Great Plains Communications is growing! We are looking for a detailed individual to assist in our company network architecture and service offerings including but not limited to: Optical, Ethernet, Software Defined Networking, UI/UX development, IP, VOIP, IPTV, Access, and CPE technologies. Evaluates, tests, and develops GPC processes to roll out new technologies into GPC production network and product portfolio. Specific requirements include the testing, deployment and support of the following network technologies: Cloud (public and private), Orchestration and Automation, Virtualization (VNF) of Services and Network Elements.

Architects, engineers, builds, and supports GPC’s cloud-based services and networks (Cloud Connect, Orchestration, Virtualized CPE). Researches, tests, configures, installs, and maintains the equipment required for these networks. Troubleshoots customer and network problems, analyzes performance issues, and resolves outages. Provides support for new technologies, partners with Product Development, Engineering and other departments including OSP, Network Operations, IT and Field Operations.

Duties include:

  • Designs and manages GPC’s networks to be efficient, scalable, and secure.
  • Assists and supports the Network Engineering team.
  • Provides support to GPC engineers and technicians in other departments.
  • Provides support to GPC customer & employee support/troubleshooting departments.
  • Engineers and supports Software Defined Network services (Cloud Connect, Virtualized services).
  • Creates and maintains documentation and diagrams for GPC networks.
  • Manages tools used for maintaining and troubleshoots GPC networks.
  • Works with Network Architect and CTO to create annual operational and capital budges for each area of responsibility.

This position can be remote but must be willing to travel to Blair, Nebraska and other locations as needed.
