Junior-Mid Ruby on Rails Engineer at Bonterra Tech

About You:
- Experience preferred, developing Ruby on Rails applications and have:
- Pushed/pulled code to/from Github.
- Understand what a service object is, and have used them to reduce complexity of your code.
- Understand the basics of SOLID practices
- Have experience with at least one other programming language beyond Ruby
- Have used TDD/BDD in your daily development cycle.
- You're educated! You have at least a bachelor’s degree or significant experience in lieu of degree.
- You have technical skills! You have experience with deployed RoR applications. You can work with Javascript and have an understanding of relational database concepts (writing queries, applying indexes, etc). You want to improve your ability to use appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
- You love collaboration! You have the ability to work independently AND in collaboration with Ruby teammates and product leaders. You are not hesitant to reach out when you are stuck.
- You have a strong desire to learn and improve your coding abilities. You want to know more about what you did wrong than what you did right. You can immediately apply critiques of your code in the next bit that you write.

A day in the life?
As a Junior-Mid Full-Stack Ruby on Rails engineer, you will work with top-notch fellow Rubyists to deliver efficient, maintainable, and elegant code that helps Nonprofits grow their donor base so they can focus on their mission. You’ll report to the SVP of Growth Technology, but will be answerable to your team lead and fellow teammates, and they to you. You’ll participate in asynchronous daily standups, PR reviews, design sessions, and architectural debates. You’ll be free to work from home or one of our offices, wherever you feel you are most productive. You’ll be partnered with various members of the team depending on the task.

You will:
- Write maintainable and fully tested Ruby and Javascript code.
- Learn how to and then adhere to our coding best practices (SOLID, RobuCop)
- Provide production support and bug squashing skills that improve the lives of our non-profit customers.
- Work on all phases of the development lifecycle, including new feature design and development, continuous integration, continuous deployment, refactoring, and regression testing.
- Fix data discrepancies, update customer information, and research issues.
- Communicate and collaborate with fellow engineers through Jira, Slack, PR reviews, etc.
