Description

Are you looking for meaningful part-time work? Do you want to use your design skills to help save lives or make a positive impact on those in need? Then come join the Colorectal Cancer Alliance team as a freelance Junior Graphic Designer!

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective, and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.

The Alliance seeks a part-time freelance graphic designer with at least 2 years professional experience for a temporary contract position to assist with the production of marketing and communications materials. This is an ideal position for a talented and early-career professional seeking an opportunity to develop various design products for print, social media, and the web in a fast-paced non-profit setting with tight deadlines. The designer should be able to dedicate 20 hours per week to the role. Internships can count toward experience.

The designer will take the lead in designing and creating all visual elements for a range of print and digital collateral, including flyers, postcards, promotional products, meeting materials, sponsorship packets, emails, social media, website graphics, etc. Specific projects will be assigned based on organizational needs. Projects could support any facet of the organization, including events, fundraising, prevention, patient support, and community engagement.

The designer should understand how to create compelling visual designs, follow design principles and best practices, apply and maintain established brand standards, and deliver polished final products for the Alliance’s various communications channels. The designer should deliver quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision, interact professionally with other employees, constituents and vendors, work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments, work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical.

While experience with designing for social media and video-first content is not required, any experience creating designs for engaging, high-quality content for social media would be valuable. The Alliance is seeking a well-rounded designer with strong skills creating various visually engaging communications materials that meet brand standards, however, any specialized experience in social media design, video editing, and motion graphics is a plus.

The designer will meet with the lead Graphic Designer at least weekly to establish goals, check in on progress with projects, and finalize materials. While the designer should be an independent and proactive self-starter, they will be considered part of the Alliance’s marketing and communications team and may be invited to key meetings when appropriate.

The role will run from date-of-hire through March 31, 2023. Pay is $28/hour. This is a remote position.

It is not an understatement to say that this position will be part of a team responsible for saving thousands of lives and improving countless more. The urgency of the situation due to the 1.4 million people in the US that have this disease requires that we find someone who can deliver results immediately. If you believe you have the experiences and ability to successfully achieve these goals, we’d like to hear from you! Interested candidates may apply by sending an email with a cover letter and resume to jobs@ccalliance(dot)org. Please include "Junior Graphic Designer" in the subject of the email.

This is essential to increasing colorectal cancer prevention and survivorship rates.
