This is a junior level developer position supporting Operations and Maintenance activities for a component of a federal agency.


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or commensurate experience
  • 1-5 year's experience developing web solutions in Drupal and PHP implementations
  • Experience developing in Drupal 8/9/10 environments
  • Custom module development and custom theming a plus
  • Experience building responsive websites using Drupal CMS, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3/4, and JavaScript (jQuery/Bootstrap/Node)
  • Knowledge of PHP 7/8, PHP files and theme functions, and knowledge of the Drupal theme layer
  • Ability to design innovative solutions and deliver quality software to strict standards and schedules through own efforts and those of others
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver production quality software within tight schedules
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable meeting with customers and senior leaders
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Takes pride in their work
  • Ability to work well in a team and to work well independently
  • Takes ownership of tasks and mistakes
  • Some after-hours work is required

What You'll Be Doing

This is a junior level developer position supporting Operations and Maintenance activities for a component of a federal agency. This position allows for remote work, but you must be able to commute to the job site as required to the Washington DC office location within a day's notice.

This position will join a team of developers, analysts/testers, and publishers who support internal and external websites for our DHS/ICE clients with myriad tools and supporting technologies. The candidate is expected to contribute to the standards and guidelines for all development targeting the related ICE platforms/environments.

Candidates will be responsible for completing issues organized into sprints.

Examples of issues include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop new features
  • One-off bug fixes
  • UI improvements
  • Functional adjustments to existing features
  • Spike/Research new or emerging technologies to aid in solution development
  • Implement security patches and system updates

Task examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Trouble-shoot/resolve emergency issues affecting the site
  • Provide supplemental publishing support for the publishing team
  • Support release deployments
  • Participate in team and customer meetings
  • Work with development team lead and/or PM to plan new projects and tasks and report progress
  • Work with business analyst and PM to gather requirements with the customer
  • Conduct demonstrations for colleagues and customers

Our estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $95,000. This presented salary range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Offered salary is based on education, experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements as appropriate to the role. *Salary could fall outside of this range.
