Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university; related work experience will be strongly considered
  • Microsoft certifications: MTA-Database Fundamentals, MCITP—SQL Server, CompTIA Network+

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge on latest versions of SQL Server database (2016 and above), including troubleshooting and fixing performance issues, replication, backup/restore
  • Understanding RPO and RTO
  • Working knowledge of Oracle RDBMS
  • Working knowledge Python data structures
  • Novice level understanding of T-SQL concepts and syntax

This is a junior (mid-level) data services technical role supporting the enterprise-wide business intelligence and advanced analytics needs of the company (i.e. data science deliverables: reporting, datasets and data model architecture). This role is part of a specialized, cross-functional technical team (Data\Analytics Team) which builds systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for data scientists, business analysts to interpret and reporting consumers (internal and external). Supports ODS and complex analytics for the company’s national and international warehouse operations. The team consists of business/data analyst, reporting developers, data engineers and data scientists tasked with design, administration, and maintenance of all enterprise reporting/analytics as primary data owners of business information.

Assist team Technical Lead and Data Engineer in supporting the team’s goal to make data accessible so that organizations can use it to evaluate and optimize their performance, within a fast-paced a complex business setting.

Demonstrated skills in SQL server reporting services, Tableau, analysis services, Salesforce, integration services, or any other data visualization tools. The candidate must additionally be capable of developing databases using SSIS packages, T-SQL, MSSQL, and MySQL scripts. The candidate will also have an ability to administer, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain the business’s ETL pipeline and data warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical and logical database administration functions as required for Application Sustain Services
  • Creates shell scripts and SQL scripts for database administration
  • Works with custom-developed applications (proprietary) and third-party applications to support DBA functions
  • Provides appropriate resources and skill sets to support the DBA functions for data platform applications/components (i.e., storage tier) as required
  • Reviews with Data engineer: new Database Management System (DBMS) releases to understand the business and technical impacts
  • Sets up and maintain test and production databases
  • Proposes database changes to ease monitoring and administrative effort
  • Documents and implements changes to databases via proper Change Management methodology
  • Monitors and analyzes database activity to proactively identify and prevent potential Incidents and recommend performance improvements
  • Participates in situation management of incidents related to database operations
  • Maintains and monitors security mechanisms, controls and procedures to keep the data secure based on operational security policies and regulatory requirements for compliance (GDPR, PCI-DSS, PII, SOC)
  • Participating in customer and team calls every week
  • Monitoring and assisting in maintaining operational baseline in RDBMS(es)
  • Benchmarking and testing changes
  • Wait stats analysis
  • A server administrator that has to maintain SQL Server as a part of the infrastructure
  • An administrator for a line-of-business application such as SharePoint, Microsoft CRM, Great Plains, Dynamics, or Biztalk
  • An administrator for one or many non-Microsoft systems that rely on SQL Server
  • Be proactive in performance tuning and optimization to help improve database efficiency
  • Implements and manages changes
  • Implements, maintains, and tests backup and recovery processes
  • Enforces security measures to protect company data
  • Provides first level Support and maintain MS SQL OLTP and OLAP (BISM Tabular and Multi-dimensional SSAS cubes) Server database environment
  • Assists Data Engineer in building database structures based on detailed design specifications
  • Performs database testing to ensure performance is met and compare with expected results
  • Provides support during the system implementation and production
  • Identifies gaps in scripts and procedures
  • Works with reporting developers and application developers to identify and resolve issues impacting production
  • Functions in 18x5 on-call environment
  • Performs operational procedures and maintain records
  • Interfaces with Tech Support for information gathering, trouble-shooting, and general technical support for security patches, installs, upgrades
