Junior Cyber Engineer at GrayMatter
We're looking for a Junior Cyber Engineer to join our team! This role will focus on performing cybersecurity audits, IT health checks, basic network troubleshooting, and providing system maintenance for our clients.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed:
- Bachelor 's degree in a technical discipline (Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Science, Computer Science) OR a minimum of 2 years of experience working in the field.
Required experience:
- Must understand how to interpret network diagrams and analyze traffic utilizing tools such as Wireshark.
- Foundational networking skills including the ability to troubleshoot all layers of OSI model
- Familiarity and understanding of standards and frameworks such as ISA 62243, IEC 27001, NIST SP 800, NIST CSF, and/or NERC CIP

Preferred experience:
- Fundamental understanding of operational technologies such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software, RTUs, HMI and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Fundamental understanding of the Purdue Reference Model for Industrial Control System (ICS) cybersecurity
- Fundamental understanding of industrial protocols and interoperability; CIP, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA, MODBUS, MQTT, Modbus
- Industrial Control Systems (ICS) / Operational Technology (OT) experience is a plus

We're looking for a Junior Cyber Engineer to join our team! This role will focus on performing cybersecurity audits, IT health checks, basic network troubleshooting, and providing system maintenance for our clients. The position requires above average attention to details, concern for the exact correctness of work, and strong commitment to tasks completed on time. The person in this position will take work seriously, has a strong sense of duty, and is disciplined. The position will generally be task oriented, requiring someone with a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work.
The target annual base compensation range for this position is $70,000-$90,000, based upon relevant qualifications.
General Job Duties:
- Execute cybersecurity risk and vulnerability assessments for customers utilizing an industry leading methodology
- Install, configure, and maintain IT and networking hardware and software
- Troubleshooting of basic cybersecurity solutions to resolve customer issues
- Consulting with, providing recommendations, and training end users on cyber solutions
- Performing pilots, testing, and demos of cutting edge cyber-security solutions
- Provide technical assistance to internal teams such as SCADA, MES, Twinthread Analytics, and sales
- Position requires independent travel to customer locations - up to 50%
