- Bachelors in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field or comparable years of experience
- 2+ years of agency and/or in-house experience in copywriting
- A writer who has successfully written across key channels, including short and long-form writing for marketing campaigns.
- Impeccable proofreading skills, grammar, and attention to detail.
- Strong editing, writing, reporting, and story development skills
- A team player who communicates openly and proactively with team members
- Experience in managing multiple projects and priorities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Good organizational skills and Impeccable work ethic
- Good interpersonal skills
- Familiar with the international and US media landscape

Position Description
We are seeking a talented junior copywriter/editor to join the content and community team at XPRIZE. The ideal candidate will be a highly creative, dynamic, and thoughtful writer capable of working with short and long-form content that engages and informs the XPRIZE community.
The junior copywriter will work with the copywriter to partner and collaborate with fellow marketing team staff and internal stakeholders to craft internal and external marketing materials. To that end, the scope of work will be exciting and varied; the candidate will develop, write, and edit copy for social media content, newsletters, blogs, internal materials, and more.
The candidate will uphold the brand voice and tone, working with the copywriter to tailor copy to different XPRIZE audiences. The individual will brainstorm ideas around marketing campaigns, prizes, and initiatives, assisting in creating impactful, clear, and creative content that resonates. A strong interest and some experience with creating content that aligns with XPRIZE domains are a plus.

They will work to deliver quality content consistently and manage deadlines. A self-starter attitude with good marketing acumen will also be key to this role.
This position reports to the Director of Content & Community.
Responsibilities
- Consistently uphold brand positioning, voice, and tone to ensure that XPRIZE content uses clear, consistent, and compelling language across internal and external marketing materials.
- Write in short- and long-form for various digital and print formats.
- Leverage foundation project management tools to ensure that all written assignments are organized
- Adhere to rigorous editing and proofreading processes for all brand communications.
- Ensure that fact-checking best practices are implemented across all content.
- Translate foundation-generated research, reports, scientific data, and journals into engaging, digestible content that resonates with XPRIZE target audiences.
- Effectively communicate across different XPRIZE audiences, and the nuances required for each of them, and learn how to leverage data insights to refine impactful copy.
- Work on assignments in collaboration with staff across content, design, integrated marketing, and events to execute effective internal and external marketing materials of the highest quality.
- As needed, partner with marketing staff to create impactful copy that helps to amplify brand milestones, initiatives, and campaigns
- Collaborate with team members on a variety of creative brainstorming and strategic marketing initiatives.
- Attend weekly standup and team meetings
- Perform other job duties as needed
The anticipated base salary for this position is $70k to 85k and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
