We are seeking a Jr. Linux System Administrator to be part of a team responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of customer systems deployed in the cloud and cloud adjacent (Data centers) environments.


Requirements:

  • Required Experience and Skills
  • Must have existing Security+ certification. Candidates with 2 years of experience in IT with a security focus who are eligible to obtain Security+ certification may be considered.
  • Experience troubleshooting and using LINUX OS and applications.
  • Will need to possess or obtain a variety of technical certifications, such as: Cloud based certifications specifically AWS/Azure; OS based certifications specifically Linux/Windows/SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-Motivated, problem solver and critical thinker who loves to get their hands on technology.
  • Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain or already possess a DoD Secret clearance. Candidates who already possess Public Trust clearance may be considered. U.S. Citizenship required.

About the Role

We are seeking a Jr. Linux System Administrator to be part of a team responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of customer systems deployed in the cloud and cloud adjacent (Data centers) environments. The Jr. Linux System Administrator will be part of a team that is responsible for the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the systems being managed to meet the needs and business objectives of our costumes and users’ communities.

The core environments that the Jr. Linux System Administrator will work on will be cloud services, Windows and Linux based systems. Individuals will be required to go through an intensive training on system administration and will be required to obtain a wide range of certifications in support of the environments we support.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a system administrators’ team that is customer focused to ensure the successful delivery of integrated solutions.
  • Provide hardware/software support for application servers, network infrastructure, web servers, print servers, virtual file servers, virtual machines, and reporting tools.
  • Participate in evaluation, testing, selection, and deployment of foundational network elements for a nationwide greenfield network buildout.
  • Provide administration solutions and support for hardware and software platforms to include all GOTS and COTS applications.
  • Provide input for documentation on new or existing systems.
  • Provide system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Participate in special projects as required in support of proof of concepts and research different technology options.
  • Participate in all phases of the system deployment and configuration lifecycle,
  • Engage in service capacity planning, demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
  • Work closely with lead system administrators to support researching, recommending and adopting best practices.
  • Develop skills within existing applications in-order to be able to diagnose and fix issues.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Training

Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of work experience troubleshooting and using LINUX OS and applications. Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree who have 7+ years of work experience troubleshooting and using LINUX OS and applications may be considered.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
