Education & Experience (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and
  • relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex websites and web applications using open source tools, languages, libraries, and current standards-compliant code.
  • Expert level knowledge of front-end development languages and ability to hand code Javascript (ES5, ES6)
  • Solid understanding of web standards and usability methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, compile, test, debug, and deploy software.
  • Knowledge of web analytics tools and related analyses.
  • Ability to design and manage relational databases.
  • Ability to design and implement web services.
  • Ability to interact positively with and build consensus among a diverse group of colleagues, clients, and senior leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Preferred):
  • Knowledge of web content development and cloud services. (Firebase services preferred)
  • Experience with JSON and RESTful APIs
  • Working knowledge of git

Stanford Graduate School of Education is seeking a full stack web developer to join our team and help build the Rapid Online Assessment of Reading platform (https://roar.stanford.edu/) as it scales to meet the needs of large school districts, serving hundreds of thousands of students.

What You’ll Do:

Create and maintain functionality to support the growth of the ROAR platform. Work with a cross-disciplinary team (https://www.brainandeducation.com/) to design, build, and deploy high quality mini-applications and javascript-based components that support the collecting, visualizing, and managing of research and client-facing data.

  • Your responsibilities include: Provide technical expertise in front- and back-end web development.
  • Support web infrastructure by providing end-user support, applications maintenance,
  • product evaluation, back-end development, and internal management tools.
  • Ideate on and build application components that address the changing needs of the
  • research and partnership teams.
  • Design and develop applications that involve various levels of data manipulation.
  • Maintain and update existing Javascript applications and components.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems as part of a team.
  • Follow team software development methodology.
  • Serve as a technical resource with respect to applications

  • This remote role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.

The expected pay range for this position is $71,000 to $100,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
