As students progress through a specialization course, they will need direction on appropriate next steps, when to repeat content or to push forward, as well as direction as they struggle or succeed in certain areas.


Job Skills:

  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to efficiently and correctly explain technical concepts to folks with little/no experience.
  • Ability to break down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible components.
  • Ability to discern topics that are most critical for students to be able to obtain employment in a given subject matter.
  • Self-awareness, openness to daily feedback, and willingness to grow/change in response to student and organizational needs.
  • Awareness of others (when are students struggling, succeeding, overwhelmed, etc.…).

Work Experience:

  • Experience providing team oversight or management.
  • Experience teaching/training in group settings.
  • Mentorship and/or tutoring experience (preferred).

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field, or certification through alternate learning options, or equivalent industry experience.

Other:

  • Eligible to work from home.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Travel via plane and/or care may be required for this job, albeit unlikely.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs a warrant.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations.
  • Strong mental acuity.

Description

  • Tech Leads provide guidance and industry knowledge in order to guide students as they progress through specialization courses.
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The primary duties of a DevMountain Tech Lead are:

Student Guidance

As students progress through a specialization course, they will need direction on appropriate next steps, when to repeat content or to push forward, as well as direction as they struggle or succeed in certain areas. Tech Leads will also direct students to SME support when needed.

Answer Student Questions

As students progress through specialization course content and exercises, Tech Leads will be available to answer student questions, provide additional context, give industry examples, and help students fix their code or other technical blockers.

Curriculum Review

Tech Leads should be familiar with existing content so that they can answer students’ questions. They should spend some time each week ensuring they are familiar enough with the content to be able to answer questions about it.

Curriculum Design Consulting

As the education team is looking to improve upon the curriculum, the Tech Leads will participate in discussions regarding the direction and overall approach to the project.

Curriculum Creation

Tech Leads will provide support in the creation of new content, or the modification of existing content.

Student Support Coordination

Tech Leads run student support meetings weekly, facilitating the sharing of knowledge regarding individual students between themselves and the SMEs, as well as up to the Staff Supervisor.
