Digital Designer at Highwire PR
We are seeking a talented, passionate Digital Designer with strong web design skills to join a growing design team within Highwire’s digital department.
Candidate requirements:
- Visual or UX design degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years professional design experience (agency experience preferred, but not essential)
- A compelling portfolio showcasing a range of professional work in digital design and demonstrating a solid understanding of design principles and web design best practices
- Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD) and Figma/Sketch
- Experience working with design systems
- A keen understanding of UX design principles including expert knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage time independently. Must be able to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and proactively flag conflicts with account and creative teams
- A finger on the pulse of latest design, social, and digital trends
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Nice-to-Haves:
- In addition to a broad knowledge of digital design, you may bring special skills. These are welcomed, and we encourage you to highlight them in your application. For example:
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere and After Effects
- Vector illustration skills
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS
- Experience with low/no-code platforms, such as Webflow

About the job: We are seeking a talented, passionate Digital Designer with strong web design skills to join a growing design team within Highwire’s digital department. Working alongside 23 digital specialists, you will possess a well-rounded design skillset, with experience developing assets for a range of visual mediums including websites, social campaigns, presentations, eBooks and other digital content forms.
The Digital Designer will work closely with the Associate Creative Director to elevate and expand the breadth of Highwire’s design output – with a special focus on interactive design and prototyping. This position will include design work on a range of interactive design projects, from marketing landing pages, to digital assessment tools, content hubs, and data visualization.
About you: The ideal candidate is a creative yet methodical visual thinker who takes great pride in their attention to detail and ability to develop well-structured visual systems. We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of all things interactive design who can take projects from conception through to final delivery. Success in this role necessitates being a quick, independent learner with professional curiosity and a passion for helping others improve their visual communication skills. You will thrive on variety, and enjoy working across multiple clients with varying standards and styles.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and develop design solutions that adhere to client brand standards and meet business goals across a range of visual mediums, including but not limited to: websites, social campaigns, email designs, presentations, and eBooks
- Wireframe web concepts and develop interactive prototypes for client presentation and user testing purposes
- Present design work to both Highwire account teams and external clients. Must be able to both a.) communicate effectively with other creatives and b.) explain rationale for decisions in language appropriate for a non-designer audience
- Collect and implement feedback within designated review cycles. Know how to effectively navigate client feedback which may be uninformed
- Provide design support for Highwire marketing and new business initiatives, including pitch decks, marketing collateral and agency website updates
- Brainstorm creative concepts, independently and with account teams
- Act as a guardian of Highwire’s own visual brand, ensuring our values are upheld in all visual communications
- Work with Associate Creative Director to provide design mentorship to junior designer, the digital team, and the wider agency
