Submittable is looking for a DevOps Engineer to improve upon tools and automation that accelerate engineering teams’ velocity, improve their developer experience and reduce their cognitive load.


You will have these qualities and experience:

  • Requires 2+ years of DevOps and 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • Experience with building robust continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience with building and operating a high availability, high traffic SaaS application on the cloud
  • Experience supporting and managing Docker containers from local development to production on Kubernetes
  • Committed to infrastructure as code and config using tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Kustomize, or Helm
  • Strong programming fundamentals with knowledge in at least one of the following languages: C#, Python, Scala, Go, or Java
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking (DNS, SSL, Virtual Networks, VPC, VPN, Routing, Peering, NATs, Firewalls)
  • Deep Linux system programming experience; Windows is a plus
  • Implementation of modern observability stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Datadog, Splunk, etc
  • Experience with security areas such as cloud security, container security, and Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) is nice to have
  • Experience with GitOps (Flux, ArgoCD) is nice to have
  • Azure, Kubernetes (CKAD), or AWS Certifications (SA, SysOps) are nice to have
  • Has a love of learning

Description

Submittable is looking for a DevOps Engineer to improve upon tools and automation that accelerate engineering teams’ velocity, improve their developer experience and reduce their cognitive load. You’ll recommend and implement changes to existing technology, evaluate new technologies, respond to production issues that arise, be challenged with complex problems to solve, and contribute to our technological direction.

This full-time individual contributor role reports to the Engineering Manager and has the possibility of being fully remote.

The DevOps Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Optimizing the automation and tools that enable teams to accelerate delivery
  • Improving the local development experience
  • Increasing observability of logs, metrics and tracing
  • Mentoring and guiding team members in building well-architected infrastructure
  • Following security best-practices and ensure compliance with company policy
  • Participating in production support process, including on-call rotation
  • Attending post mortems and contribute to identifying root causes
  • Managing stakeholders and external interfaces
