DevOps Engineer at Maxar Technologies

Maxar is seeking a DevOps engineer with backend experience to join our Analytics Engineering team.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience with software or data engineering in a complex technical environment
• Automated deployment experience
• Familiarity with AWS Lambda/Step/DynamoDb/API Gateway, AWS Networking/ AWS Cloud formation/SAM templates
• Experience with Python or Java
• Experience with handling Rest APIs
• Willingness to work with development team on implementing best practices for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance

Preferred Skills and Experience :

• Experience with REST, Postgres/Postgis, Geoserver, Jenkins, ReactJS
• AWS certification and experience with components such as CloudFormation, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda, Batch, and Step Functions
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment systems (CI/CD) such as CircleCI or Jenkins
• Experience with unit and/or integration testing
• Containerization experience: Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Experience with infrastructure as code
• Experience working with satellite imagery
• Experience working independently within a remote/distributed team

Maxar is seeking a DevOps engineer with backend experience to join our Analytics Engineering team. You will be part of a team focused on developing cloud-native tools, data processing pipelines, and customer-facing APIs to support applied machine learning on high-resolution satellite imagery.

We are looking for applicants who can communicate well with teams and users, learn quickly, and manage their time while multitasking. We need a DevOps engineer with experience and an interest in working at the nexus of data engineering, machine learning, geospatial technologies, and AWS cloud development. Our focus is on unlocking content and insights from our high-resolution satellite imagery, and doing so repeatably, reliably, and at scale over large and diverse geographies and applied use cases. This position offers an opportunity to help shape the tools and systems that enable these analytics, through innovation and technical contributions.

What you will do day-to-day (with your team):

• As part of a team of engineers and data scientists, you will help us develop, deploy, and maintain Earth imagery intelligence products. Your responsibilities will include:
• Working with machine learning engineers and data scientists to understand pain points in their algorithm development workflows, and building data engineering solutions to make their work easier and more effective
• Developing and maintaining Python libraries and Amazon Web Services (AWS) pipelines focused on supporting applied geospatial machine learning
• Deploying machine learning algorithms to production environments
• Supporting AWS DevOps and security posture
• Orchestration of AWS services to include Step Functions, Lambda (Python), SQS, SNS, DynamoDb, S3, ECS, Fargate, RDS, VPC/network
• Working with RDS postgres/postgis
