The Role

Zicasso is looking for a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer (Golang) to join our team. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the core infrastructure that powers Zicasso's innovative travel platform. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with a talented team of engineers. The role reports to the VP of Engineering.

This is an international, fully-remote, freelance contractor position, working from home, at a location outside of the United States. We are particularly seeking candidates who are based in Latin America.

There is some flexibility in your work hours but you are required to overlap with California, eg. until 2pm Pacific Time Zone (GMT -8).

The work will all be conducted in English.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy highly available and scalable backend systems using Golang
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Optimize performance and scalability of existing systems and infrastructure
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Integrate with external APIs and third-party services
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
  • Contribute to code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in backend development

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, ideally in multiple languages
  • Proficient in designing, developing, and deploying robust backend systems using either Golang or Java.
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
  • Proficient in designing and optimizing SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with message queues and event-driven architectures
  • Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control (Git) and automated testing
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies is considered a plus
  • Passion for the travel industry and desire to create exceptional user experiences
