Backend Engineer - Connectivity at Sight Machine, Inc.

We need one to Take a lead role in the platform development lifecycle, including planning, coding, testing, architecture, and documentation

Requirements

• 2+ years of industry experience building robust backend systems
• Expertise with Python required, including debugging and testing
• Can operate independently with specific requirements
• Can dive into code authored by others and understand and debug it
• Ability to communicate effectively outside your immediate team, including internal customers and partners

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with Manufacturing and Historian technologies (eg OPC-UA, OLEDB, Proficy, Wonderware, OSI Pi)
• Experience with the Python Pandas framework and SQLAlchemy a plus
• Experience with implementing and debugging network protocols
• Unix/Linux experience with shell commands and scripting

Sight Machine strengthens manufacturers by providing the industry’s only platform for standard data models and system-level visualization capabilities. Our platform is based on a service-oriented architecture, using APIs to drive a clean and responsive application experience. We are looking for team members to help us build, maintain, and improve the application that makes Sight Machine the leading provider of manufacturing data pipelines and analytics. In this role you will work on our connectivity solution, building tools which enable data extraction from many different modern and legacy sources in the manufacturing enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Take a lead role in the platform development lifecycle, including planning, coding, testing, architecture, and documentation
• Participate in code review and work to continuously improve the quality of the backend codebase
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks in the end-to-end system
• Serve as a leader in best practices, team health, and our culture of engineering by mentoring and coaching teammates.

Location

San Francisco or Remote (ability to work in US required)
