Back End Software Engineer at Digital Science

We need one to Develop robust Python code for our different web applications and APIs

What you’ll bring to the role

• Strong hands on experience in a Python environment
• Strong experience with Linux administration and Shell Scripting
• Understanding of agile methodologies
• Experience with Nginx or Apache
• High familiarity with distributed systems and web technology - web services, message queues, git, etc.
• Proficiency in database systems and design with Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Experience or an interest in DevOps and AWS or Azure Cloud Administration
• Experience or an interest with Kubernetes, Docker or similar
• Experience with Solr, Elasticsearch and/or Lucene would be beneficial but not essential
• Must be a self-learner, inquisitive, analytical and an exceptional problem solver
• Strong interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills

What you'll be doing

• Develop robust Python code for our different web applications and APIs
• Active involvement in developing, customizing and maintaining bespoke products and technologies
• Plan, design and enhance automation processes, utilities and tools
• Plan and execute release processes, infrastructure and tools
• Help improve the reliability, scalability and performance of our systems
• Architect and administer the cloud (AWS/Azure) infrastructure.
• Work in a federal and an agile environment concurrently
