Android Engineer at Ancestry

We’re looking for a great Android Engineer to come join our team. At Ancestry, we build native apps that are used by millions of people every day, so your work will have a big impact.

Who You Are:

• Experience developing native Android applications in Kotlin and Java
• Enjoy keeping up with the news and changes in the Android community. Will help drive the direction of our mobile architecture by applying best practices for Android development that you learn from your peers.
• Ability to breakdown complex requirements into components / deliverable milestones
• Interested in end-to-end feature development from design to execution
• Familiar with agile or other rapid application development methods
• Have a disciplined approach to development including QA, Design Patterns and CI/CD
• Willing to learn from and mentor other team members. Will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers and others.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with Kotlin multiplatform, RxJava, Retrofit, OkHttp, Robolectric, Espresso
• Experience with mobile CI/CD approaches and tool chains
• Experience writing unit/integration tests for Android apps
• A good sense of humor!

We build our apps in Kotlin, and are using some of the latest Android technologies, like Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and KMM to name a few. We are working on some awesome app and feature transformations right now and the mobile app teams are leading out on these initiatives.
